Robotics & Programming Courses For HomeSchooling, homeschool co-ops, Individuals, Private Schools & Other Groups

It’s time to sign up for Home Hacker’s Robotics and Programming classes for 2023 & 2024! We offer Level 1 (Beg), Level 2 (Inter) & Level 3 (Adv) classes in-person, online, and online instructor led. .

For teachers, we offer instructor’s curriculum and “Teach the Teachers” courses so that they can lead their own group of students.

Our mission is to expose, educate and start a strong foundation in critical STEM skills for youth in a fun and engaging way.

All of our classes are engaging & interactive. We teach about both hardware & software and how they work together. Our classes are fun, hands on, project based that involve extensive interaction between hardware and software. You are not sitting in front of a computer all of the time.

Each student receives and keeps their own personalized robot that they program which is included in the Level 1 fee. The robot is reused in the Level 2 course (making the Level 2 class less expensive).

Hear what these parent’s have to say about our robotics & programming homeschool courses.

2023-2024 School Year (online classes)

Level 1 – Robotics & Programming

In the Level 1 Robotics & Programming course, students build robots and use the computer programming language Scratch to “train” the robot to perform specific tasks (like chase your cat or dog) and complete challenges. Students learn about programming logic, loops, conditional statements and more. In addition to using the graphical programming interface students are given exposure to text based programming. Students learn to upload the programs they write to their computerized robots. They learn about the parts that make up the robot which includes the components on the main controller board and sensors. Students learn how to troubleshoot issues and work through solutions using trial and error techniques. The classes are fun, hands on and involve lots of getting up and down out of your seat to test your robot.

  • Course Fee Includes a Robot that the Student Keeps!
  • Prerequisites: None
  • Students may use a Mac or Windows Computers for the course. Chromebook are not recommended.

Level 2 – Robotics & Programming

Level 2 Home Hackers take their programming skills to the next level. We program the robots to use advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and follow specific programming rules. In this course we teach a fun introduction to Python programming lesson to start getting students familiar with text based programming languages.

  • Course Reuses Robot from Level

Level 3 – Robotics & Programming

The Level 3 Robotics & Programming Course is crazy fun and challenging. In this class, students dig deeper into components through soldering projects. Students will build a handheld game as well as a sound reactive “Disco Dot”, an Arduino based sensor project. When complete the “Disco Dot” lights up whenever it hears music, talking or any sound. Students can hang the finished product on their back packs, night stand, or Christmas tree! This project is detailed and students will be soldering wires and components to a circuit board, editing text based programming code and updating code to the controller boards. Student will also learn some aspects of Arduino code and Python.

  • Includes components necessary to build the “Catch Me Game” & “Disco Dot”
  • Does not include soldering iron, clamp, solder
  • Prerequisites: HHC Level 1 & 2
  • Students may use a Mac or Windows Computer for the course. Chromebook are not recommended.

Special Speaker Announcements & Questions

We continue to expand our speaker presentation series. We periodically have professionals, college students, grad students, etc speak to our students about STEM in college or the workforce. We have had NASA engineers, Aerospace grad students, robot engineers in China and Hollywood Special Effects creators speak to our students. We do this online via Zoom.

This year we plan to have a Starship Engineer from SpaceX speaking with our students!

If you would like to receive periodic updates on class offerings, as well as, invitations to our special speaker presentations, please let us know.

We would love to hear from you. If you. have any questions or comments you can reach us at:
